RELAY INFORMATION, RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS
Join us for the 2nd annual Manchester City Marathon Relay!The relay is back for 2010 and we've added separate timing for all legs.
The Manchester Marathon offers a 4 person/4 leg relay option. Number of teams to be limited to 100. Leg distances between approximately 5.5 and 8.5 miles. Cost is $150 per team. On-line registration starts March 1.

PACKET PICKUP
Race packet pickup is Friday, November 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Sports and Health Expo located at the Radisson Hotel on Elm Street, Manchester, N.H.
Relay Team Captains MUST pick up race packets for their teams. There is NO RACE DAY PICKUP.
TEAM LIMITS
The relay is limited to 100 teams. Registration will close once the 100-team limit is reached. There will be NO exceptions.
RELAY TEAM REGISTRATION
Teams must register online. The Team Captain must register the entire team. See the marathon website for registration instructions. There will be NO race-day registration.
RELAY TEAM CAPTAINS
Relay Team Captains: Each team must designate a Team Captain. The Team Captain is in charge of registering the entire team and picking up race packets for the team. The Team Captain will also be charged if the team’s Timing Chip is not returned. Captains are responsible for providing signed parent/guardian consent forms for any team members under the age of 18.
TEAM CATEGORIES
There will be three relay team categories: Men, Women, and Mixed.
Full relay teams will consist of 4 runners. Teams comprised of less than 4 runners are allowed; however, there are no categories for teams of 2 or 3 people. Teams with LESS THAN FOUR RUNNERS will be competing against the full (4-person) teams in their category. Winning teams in each category will receive a non-monetary award.
RELAY TEAM REQUIREMENTS
Marathon rules apply. The following items not allowed on the course: bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, wagons or motorized vehicles. No dogs. No unregistered runners.
Relay teams must be able to finish within the course time limit of 6 HOURS. This means that each relay team member must be able to maintain a sub-13.43 minute per mile pace.
Only one team member may cross the finish line. This person must be wearing the Timing Chip in order for the team to receive an official time.
Transition time/race segments will be officially recorded.
RELAY INFORMATION
Teams are responsible for transporting runners to and from transition points. Busing will NOT be provided
Relay teams must exchange the Timing Chip with the next runner in the transition area. The relay runner who is running the last leg must wear the Timing Chip on their shoe. No chip, no time, no exception.
Exchange zone 2 is within walking distance of the Start/Finish. There is limited parking at Exchange zones 1 and 3.
Your bib must be worn on the front of your body.
Exchange zones include water, Gatorade and port-o-let. Exchange zone 2 amenities are located in Athlete’s Village.
RACE TIMING
LIN-MARK Sports of Mantua NJ will time the 2010 Manchester Marathon utilizing the B-TAG from ChronoTrack Timing, the world's most advanced timing system with the disposable chip. All participants will receive their assigned B-Tag affixed to the back of their race number where it will remain for the entire event. No need to remove and place the chip on your shoe, this advanced system practically eliminates human error!

RELAY LEGS
START WITH MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON AT 8:50 AM
The start is on Elm St., Manchester’s widest street, near Athlete’s Village at Arms Park.
LEG # 1 - 6.1 Mi
Terrain: Flat and downhill through the historic mill yard, and then begins to climb up River Rd with rolling hills to mile 5. The last section is downhill to Livingston Park, which includes a short trail run to the first transition.
Transition # 1 is located in the Livingston Park parking lot
LEG # 2 - 7.1 Mi
Terrain: Mostly flat with some rolling terrain to a short climb up Reservoir Ave through Derryfield Park. The next section is relatively flat until it begins to climb up Hanover Hill. The course then runs downhill to the second transition on Elm St.
Transition # 2 Will be located on Elm St. near the corner of Mechanic St. This will be near the Marathon halfway point **Note Elm St is closed to traffic on race day. Parking for this transition point will be on any of the adjoining side streets.
LEG # 3 - 8.0 Mi
Terrain: Starts flat and runs over the Merrimack River, up a short, steep hill where the flattest portion of the course begins. The next section crosses the Piscataquog River and climbs to another flat portion which winds its way to Daniel Plummer Rd for a long, gradual climb. The last section contains rolling hills and ends with a steep downhill finish to the third transition.
Transition # 3 Will be located at the bottom of Rundlett Hill Road near the 21 mile point.
LEG # 4 - 5.0 Mi
Terrain: Flat with some hills as the course snakes its way through the neighborhoods of Bedford and West Manchester. Re-cross the Merrimack River on a restored footbridge and run past the NH Fishercats baseball stadium. The last section is a moderate climb before a flat run with several turns to the finish on Elm St.
